just for fun faq!

Here in key west we get some crazy questions, I'm here to give you the answers so you don't have to

Are there sharks in the water?

-YES!  we snorkel in the ocean and that is their home.  However, you are more likely to be injured by a falling coconut than a shark!  We do not look like or read like any of their prey, and it is actually a great experience to see one in their native environment. (that said, it is a good idea to remove shiny jewelry as that can look like a sick fish to some sea life)

Where is the bridge to Cuba?

I have lived her for over a decade and can with certainty there is no bridge, no matter how many times people ask!  also no you cannot see Cuba from key west , it is 90 miles away and you can typically see about 7 miles on the water.

How many sunset sails do you do a day?

Yes this is a real question that I hear on the regular!  while some larger water sports companies may offer different departure times each boat only completes on sunset sail a day! ( keep in mind these trips leave earlier In the winter and later in the summer due to longer/shorter days)

why is it so cold/windy, it wasn't like that on the island?

Actually, it most likely was, while on the island we are sheltered from the ocean breeze by buildings and trees.  Once out on the water those shelters are left behind, it is advised to always bring something warm in the winter particularly if snorkeling or going on a sunset sails.   Your captain will always do their best to keep you comfortable, but they are only human so they cannot change air/ water temperatures or how strong the wind blows!  its also always advised to check the wind and weather, look on our main page for updated info each morning!

Do you live here?

Yes we all live here, all of your boat staff, servers, bartenders, and musicians live right here in key west or the next few islands up.  the closest city is Miami and a 4 hour drive away!  That being said , most of us work multiple jobs or way more hours than your typical 9 to 5 job, so appreciate all the hard work these folks do for you and remember we are on island time!!
